The areas we cover

Jefferson County

Jefferson County licenses nine listed trades through its Code Enforcement Division, and roofing is not one of them. That is the county's contractor licensing rule rather than a permit rule: whether a particular re-roof needs a building permit, and which authority issues it, depends on the address.

More on St. Louis City

St. Louis County

St. Louis County does not require a building permit for a like-for-like replacement of asphalt shingles on a roof sloped 4:12 or steeper. The county requires a permit when the slope is under 4:12, when more than a quarter of the roof sheathing needs replacing, or when the covering changes material — and work that needs no permit must still meet the county's codes. That rule applies where the county enforces the residential code: unincorporated St. Louis County and the municipalities that contract with the county for it. Other municipalities have rules of their own.

St. Charles County

Questions about where we work

Is my address inside your service area?
Send us the address and we will tell you plainly. The lists above are by county and by municipality; if a town is not on one of them, ask rather than assume either way.
Do you work in the city as well as the county?
Both — City, County and everywhere else on the list above, with the same crews and the same standards.
Can a leak be repaired, or does the roof need replacing?
Usually it can be repaired — that is the work we built this company on. We look first, and if the roof is genuinely past repairing we say so and price both honestly.
Do you work with insurance claims?
We document the storm damage and write a roofing estimate you can give your insurer. We are roofers, not adjusters, and we never pretend otherwise.
How soon can someone come out?
Leave us a message anytime — our office calls you back and we schedule a time with you before anyone comes out.
Who issues the permit?
It depends on the jurisdiction. Where we have the official answer it is written next to the area above; where it is not there yet, we have not published a guess. We go through it with you before work starts.
